Documentaries & short films

Sunset Eddy

Documentary · 2019
A project I made in college that followed a very close friend of mine, a Vietnam War medic, while he planned for and processed his own death. Eddy could make anyone he talked to laugh. The people around him called him Sunset Eddy, and I got to learn what that name really meant.

The Reach of Rail

Video collage · 2019
One of my first tries at video collage as documentary, linking the LA streetcar plot to racist redlining. I wish I'd polished the ending more (and gone easier on the TV static transitions), but this one changed the direction of my work in video.

Speaking in Tongues

Documentary collage · 2021
The next step after The Reach of Rail. It came out of a lot of thinking about gibberish as a valid form of communication, balancing Terence McKenna's measured take on glossolalia against the completely bombastic version you see in modern Christianity.

someone found the giraffe guy!

Mockumentary · 2019
My college roommate Joy asked me to make something celebrating her viral Vine hitting 10 million views on YouTube, so we made a mockumentary about who the giraffe guy might be. I directed, shot and edited it. It's at around 150,000 views, and most of the comments seem to believe the bit, which makes me very happy.

No Video This Month

Short film · 2023
By far my favorite. In 2023 I made a video every month with no care about quality or popularity. I wrote and edited this one in less than a day while I was sick and overwhelmed. I think it turned out really cool.

The Indescribable Wonder of Being Alone & Ways of Seeing

Short film
Two poems I wrote in the same week, about solipsism, alone time, intimacy, perspective, and how a higher power might come through what we sense.
